Disco Queens

So, I haven't had a lot of time for posting, what with finals being next week and another mountain of homework to get through. But I was trying to delete some emails today and came across the most hilarious thing I forgot I had. Me and Robert Downey, Jr. in blackface doing some high-quality disco dancing. Pleas to enjoy.

List: This Week's Movies

6:19 PM Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »
Tis Listable Wednesday today, though I haven't made a list in quite a while it seems. Anyhow, this weeks subject is movies I saw over the past two weeks. Which is a surprising amount for me, as I usually stick to TV. On a completely unrelated topic, but one I thought I should mention, I saw an ad for The Sims 3 today...what's up with that? I wonder how it will differ from the other two. I don't really like Sims 2, my heart will always lie with original Sims, because it was much easier to control your people. Anyway, here's the list for the week:

- Moulin Rouge (I totally forgot how good it was)
- On The Beach (sooo depressing, but I heart Anthony Perkins' horrid Australian accent)
- Pretty Poison (what a crap film)
- Night at the Museum 2 (pretty good, and I appreciate the Jonas voice-cameo)
- Role Models (hilarious, as always)
- Anchorman (I've seen it over 50 times and it never gets old)
- Star Trek (SO GOOD. I went into it thinking I would hate it and emerged a Trekkie)

Killers/Muse Mashup

I found myself listening to the Portland radio station 94.7 knrk, which is the most amazing alternative station in the world. Anyhow, they have this new program...well, I dunno if it's new or just new to me...it's hosted by the DJ Squid, and it's a steady stream of mashups he's found. You gotta czech it out, I heard it at about 7pm on a Friday night, but I'm not sure if they play it every Friday. Here's one of the mashups played:

It's a combination of the Killers' "When You Were Young" and Muse's "Starlight". The mashup is kind of my favorite song right now. I'm a HUGE Killers fan, but I've never really listened to Muse. This song actually makes me want to start getting into Muse though, even if the rest of their songs may not have a delicious interval of the Killers' Brandon Flowers and his sassy/melodious voice. SO. FLIPPIN. ACE.

You're a Legend Dave

Ok, so I definitely missed List Wednesday, but I'm making up for it today. Last night I went to an incredible show, Flight of the Conchords, New Zealand's second most popular folk comedy duo. Twas amazing, as expected. The only thing I'm a little bummed about was that they didn't play "Robots" or "If You're Into It", which are two of my favorites. But it was still a great show, they did a lot of my other favorites, and I got to hear Jemaine talk in his David Bowie voice, which is my favorite part of their show. The douchetools of security wouldn't let us take pics, but we managed to sneak a few. And I will post this lurvely pic of me and the Chlez with Arj Barker, who plays Dave on the show and did some hilarious stand up to open! YOU'RE A LEGEND DAVE!!!!!!

This is when they first came out, they did "Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor"
I'm not sure which song this is from, possibly "Carol Brown" or "Most Beautiful Girl in the Room"

Dance Blog 64

So, I am really very obsessed with the videos the College Humor staff puts out. Most specifically I am obsessed with the webseries they put out called "Jake and Amir", but that's a different story. Anyhow, the CH staff recently did an all-nighter, cranking out something like 12 original videos. Though most of them are hilarious, there is definitely one that stands out the most. The Davey Dance Blog #64.

I actually really need this video to become my actual life. I am SO loving the song, which is "In the Morning" by Razorlight. What I'm currently hoping to do is have all my friends get together, which may be a big stretch since this needs to be done as the sun rises, which is about 6am in the summertime, and have a dance party to this song in a public place. I want to be able to do it on my birthday, which is June 13th, and a Saturday. Hoping it can happen!

List: Hitchcock Movies

1:12 PM Posted In Edit This 3 Comments »
Well, friends, today is List Wednesday, and I am stuck home sick. Tis not Swine Flu, have no worries. Anywho, I am curled up on the couch, watching Psycho with my very own Norman Bates. He doesn't seem too interested in it, although he did decide to give himself a bath during the scene Norman cleans up the bathroom...coincidence? I like to think not. So, the subject of this week, in honor of Psycho and Hitchcock, I thought I would list my favorite Hitchcock films. Czech them out if you haven't seem them, they are all genius.

1. Psycho (1960)
2. The Birds (1963)
3. Marnie (1964)
4. Rear Window (1954)
5. The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)
6. Vertigo (1958)
7. North by Northwest (1959)
8. Torn Curtain (1966)

This list is definitely not finalized, I've only seen about half of Hitchcock's work. I'm really interested in seeing "Frenzy" and his really early work.

List: Famous Living Dinner

Ok, so it's List Wednesday. Yes, I'm watching Law & Order and LOVING Detective Lupo. No, I'm not doing the homework I should be. So, the topic of this weeks list is this: if I could throw a dinner party for 10 living people, who would they be?

1. Will Farrell - he would keep the party HILARIOUS
2. Paul McCartney - because who doesn't love the Beatles?
3. Martha Stewart - she would be cooking, obviously
4 - 6. The Jonas Brothers - I really do love them
7. John Krasinski - but I would pretend he was his character from the Office, Jim Halpert, and insist on calling him "Big Tuna" the entire time
8. Karl Lagerfeld - genius, plus he adds international flair
9. Jerry Seinfeld - always entertaining, and I feel like it would be interesting to see him and Farrell play off each other
10. Me besties - of course GreggoryAnn would need to be there for Jonas, and I think Jamz/Chlez/Alan would enjoy it as well
